What's the best primer to use over stained wood trim?

I did use the Kilz Max and it works perfectly in one coat but it's not adhering well as much as Zinzer? I'm stuck with Zinzer but I don't like oil, really. Are there any other options you can think of? I want something with quick drying time please.

If you're not too keen on oil based primers, try a water based bonding primer. Brands like Benjamin Moore's fresh start or Behr's premium plus ultra are great options. They dry quickly, adhere well, and are more user friendly than oil based primers.
