how to paint over silicone caulk

I got this house 3 years ago and haven't changed anything in the bathroom. The previous owner used silicone caulk all over the bathroom. I wanted to remove all of it, but my bro said that I could actually paint it. how to paint over silicone caulk? well, he said to start with denatured, layer it up with latex caulking, prime with oil, then paint it. Has anyone here done this? How's it turned out? I'm actually sceptical, but is this really a good idea?

No, no. It's not a good idea to paint over silicon caulk because it's a very smooth and rubbery face you can imagine just having patches all over. I think it's possible but not really gonna give you the desired product. I'm scared to disappoint.

Painting silicone is tough since paint doesnt stick well. Your brother's method can work if you fully cover the silicone with latex caulk first, but removing silicone and using paintable caulk is usually better. Test a small spot before committing
