Black painting

Im working on a bid for next spring. I told the homeowner the fake shutters can be painted but black paint will peel off quick. I think its because they are vinyl and should not go dark. Plus ive seen black paint bubble up bad on southfacing wood shutters in summer heat. am i right about this?? Either way what can i do for painting options?

you're half right lol. not just black paint, but any oil paint is bad for vynil (crack or peel). vynil shutters is best to use latex paints,

use paint made of vynil and choose a lighter color

I've personally seen black paint peeling off vinyl shutters, especially on the sunny sides of the house.
So yeah, I wouldn't recommend it either.
Anyway, proper priming is key and maybe a little expectation management.
I mean if they really want black, then you can explain that it will need more frequent touch-ups down the road.
