Any advice on getting a matching finish?

I'm renovating my grandma's bungalow and I am having a hard time matching the new hardwood floors to the old ones. We're working on oak btw.

The old floors have a darker color but the new ones are so much lighter. Not sure how it happened because I am using the same stain. they might have made a few mixes of stain or pigment then glaze before.

You might need to experiment with layering your stain or consider adding a tinted topcoat or glaze to the new floor.
It's often a trial and error process, so it's better to test it first on a spare piece of the new oak!

I've been seeing a lot of people here doing their family's repainting huh. How do you all manage to work without fee? Ok that's off topic, and only assuming they're stingy like my family are. LOL.

Anyway, what you're having... that's typical hardwood drama. Generally, even the same stain can look way different depending on the wood age and finish. Maybe try a custom glaze or a tinted topcoat to even out the shade?
