Water Stain Removal Tips?

Got a few pesky water stains to cover before painting, tried bleach, kilz, even sanding. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. what's your method? ever had stains bleed through after painting? Looking for good, quick tips that actually last.

@Stream.liner well, first it's important to find where the water damage. fix it, clean it, then repair any damage by sanding or filling. then cover with a good Stain Blocking Primer before painting. I hope it helps!

sound advice from @BootScoot45, the stain could be a serious problem, not just someone spilling some water on the wall. As for the actual stain, clean the area good, let it dry and then use shellac based primer. I've covered several stains in my life and haven't seen anyone come back. Just make sure you let it dry fully before painting

Water stains can be really tough to deal with. I usually go for a shellac-based primer like B-I-N. It blocks everything and dries quickly, which is way better than using Kilz or just bleach. Just apply that, then add your topcoat, and you're good to go
